Homemade Linzertorte made easy!

Children love cakes - and that in all variations! So do we Stadtlandkinder. There's nothing better than having a cup of tea and enjoying a homemade piece of cake in a relaxed atmosphere. Baking cakes together with children, however, quickly ends in a little chaos, a flour battle, or the cake dough is already eaten before it is put into the oven. You know, conjuring up cakes is not one of our strengths, so we asked the cake fairy Corinna from Corinna's Candybar for help. Our project: baking a Linzertorte with our children!

The Linzertorte dough is actually made very quickly: you take some white flour, baking powder, sugar, vanilla sugar, salt, cinnamon, bitter almond aroma, an egg white and half an egg yolk, weigh these ingredients carefully and mix them in a large bowl. Wait, what was that again - bitter almond aroma? Exactly, right! We learn from the baking professional that the great secret of the Linzertorte taste lies in the bitter almond aroma. Now only the cold butter and the ground almonds are missing. We mix them with the dough and we are almost done!

To taste the dough when kneading is of course a must. It already tastes delicious! But admittedly, it only gets really tasty once it has been baked. Now we have to separate the dough into two parts. You have to weigh them up carefully, the baking artist explains to us. We now roll out one part with a little flour and carefully place it in the cake tin. One grip into the flour can and the flour dust flies through the kitchen. You have to have some fun, too!

Now it's time for the filling. We have chosen two different jams for the Linzertorte filling: the classic raspberry jam from Hero and a homemade jam from the garden harvest. We spread them evenly on the dough base.

Finally comes the decoration of the cake. With a calm hand we try to cut even strips of dough from the rest of the dough. We carefully place the strips on the bottom of the dough, covered with jam, sticky hands guaranteed! Lick off, wash off and on we go. We put the remaining strips on top and already the typical Linzer pattern develops. Now all we have to do is brush the cake with egg yolk and put it in the oven!

35 long baking minutes later, some cooling down and finally we are allowed to cut the cake. Simply heavenly, and we made it ourselves! Thank you, dear Corinna, for your help.
