In the frutt Family Lodge Robert Geesdorf runs the restaurant Lago with a heart for children. In an interview, he explains why many families take new directions in nutrition during their holidays and what the Lago team will offer its young and old guests this winter.

 

Robert, what's the special challenge of cooking for families?

 
A healthy diet plays a particularly important role for families. Especially while on holiday, habits can be broken and new facets of eating can be discovered. Some parents would like to discover a new approach to healthy food with their children on holiday. Others allow themselves and the children to eat Nutella as an exception. We offer both.

 

What do you offer especially for children?

We have noticed that our guests like to eat something simple for lunch, which provides energy for the sporting activities in Melchsee-Frutt. At lunchtime we therefore offer pizza and pasta à la carte. High quality olive oil, fresh herbs and homemade tomato sauce are some of the most important ingredients.

 

Starting from this winter season we offer our Lago Buffet in the evenings, our theme is always the mediterranean cuisine, with many products from Switzerland. We also take the liberty of offering outliers with German, Asian or otherwise exotic dishes. For the very young guests we offer freshly prepared baby rice on advance order.

 

You used to work in various gourmet restaurants, what does the term "gourmet" in a family restaurant mean to you?

 

Gourmet comes from "Gourmands" and they exist at any age! In order to become gourmands as adults, it is important that we get to know a wide variety of tastes as a child. It is important to me that our little guests discover fresh vegetables and fresh ingredients for themselves.

 
Gourmet also means to feel good during the meal. Children can play in the Murmeli cave while their parents enjoy a glass of wine or dessert. The fact that the children can move around in the restaurant and in the house creates a relaxed atmosphere. The parents know that all our employees take care of them. For example, if a child gets lost in the kitchen, nobody scolds, but we show him what we are cooking and bring it back to his family. In the quieter hours, the kids are allowed in the kitchen anyway, where they can watch and participate.
