Stadtlandkind focuses on reusable, climate‑neutral mailing bags!
We at Stadtlandkind have set ourselves some ambitious goals within the framework of our Green Commerce Strategy for the year 2020. With various measures and innovations, we want to continuously reduce our C02 emissions over the next 3 years and make our contribution through compensation in climate protection projects.
Kickbag: Sustainable online shopping without packaging waste
Since June 2020, we have been delivering orders climate-neutrally in Kickbag®. The Kickbag® replaces the shipping carton and is a reusable, flexible bag made of partially recycled PET with Velcro fastener.
The robust, weatherproof and durable Kickbag® can be used instead of disposable packaging for shipping almost all products. Bag and shipping are climate neutral (the emissions of the kickbag are balanced and compensated for 100% with climate protection projects), for the most part recycled raw materials are used for production. With the Kickbag® we can significantly reduce CO2 emissions compared to conventional packaging material.
Small contribution - big effect: Your climate franc to environmental protection!
With the Kickbag®, the customer no longer has to worry about the tedious (and sometimes expensive) disposal of expensive and nearly unused cardboard boxes. And because many customers now wish to have their carbon footprint offset for their order, we have built into the checkout the option of making a personal contribution to these climate measures with just one click on the climate franc.

Now that all parcels to and from customers have been transported by Swiss Post in a climate-neutral way since 1 January 2020, and climate neutrality has been achieved for the entire company and the website as of March 2020, we are now starting this pioneering project, which is unique in Switzerland, where we have a direct influence on emissions and CO2 output.
As a next step, the use of additional materials such as polybag, stuffing material, package inserts and tissue paper will be examined, reduced and, where possible, completely eliminated in the future.
Kickbag GmbH
The Kickbag GmbH was founded in July 2020. The main shareholding is held by Tobias Zingg, co-founder of Stadtlandkind.ch, and Mariella Huber, co-founder of the online fabric shop Stoff&so. Due to their experience in e-commerce, they had long been looking for an alternative, environmentally friendly packaging in e-commerce. After all, even if cardboard, plastic and styrofoam are professionally recycled, the CO2 emissions are still a burden. Many customers are also bothered by the fact that they have to dispose of cardboard packaging - because in more and more communities this is subject to a fee.
"We estimate that the Kickbag® can be reused up to 30 times. It creates a win-win-win situation: customers no longer have to dispose of packaging, the retailer appeals to environmentally conscious customer groups and the climate is protected".
