100 Years Save the Children ‑ Gala and Gymbag limited edition!

At Stadtlandkind, everything revolves around children and families - as does our social commitment. Together with the children's rights organization Save the Children, we are therefore committed to improving the living conditions of the most disadvantaged children and their families in the long term. Save the Children works in over 120 countries worldwide and here in Switzerland to ensure that all children grow up healthy, can learn and are protected from war and armed conflict.

2019 is a very special year for Save the Children, because exactly 100 years ago the teacher Eglantyne Jebb founded the children's rights organisation. We were able to celebrate this special anniversary together at the Swiss Charity Concert Gala on 24 August and look back on 100 years of commitment to children.

A gala for and with children

It was an entertaining evening with many highlights: Stéphanie Berger, together with her 16-year-old co-presenter Nico Z., led us through the event with her humorous and relaxed manner. The motto "Be a Hero for Children in Conflict" showed us in various program points that unfortunately more and more children today are exposed to wars and grow up in conflict areas and how we can give these children hope for a future together. Through a raffle with great prizes, among them vouchers for Stadtlandkind children, donations were collected for the work of Save the Children. Two influencers reported about a touching project visit to Kenya. Children were also involved in the gala itself - two children's reporters interviewed guests, Nico was in no way less to Stéphanie Berger as children's moderator and a whole group of children supported the raffle to help disadvantaged children who are less well off.

Camerata Jovem with an enchanting performance

From a musical point of view, there was a concert by Camerata Jovem, a youth orchestra from Rio de Janeiro, which offers young people from Brazil's favelas a musical education and thus gives them a future. The youth orchestra also won this year's Swiss Charity Award. Prof. Koh Gabriel Kameda performed with the orchestra and is one of today's great violinists. The orchestra played one of the pieces under the direction of Save the Children's conductor and board member Victor Dijon de Monteton, who was also the artistic director of the event.

A Swiss Music Surprise Act

Musically, the evening culminated in a surprise performance by Veronica Fusaro, an up-and-coming Swiss singer who was nominated for the Swiss Music Award in 2017. She performed two songs - one of them together with the youth orchestra. The guests, including us, were thrilled and celebrated the artists with standing ovations and a lively atmosphere.

Stadtlandkind-Gymbag limited edition "Save the Children"

We were especially pleased to be able to support the evening in a special way: in keeping with the motto "Be a Hero for Children in Conflict" every guest received one of our Stadtlandkind Special Edition Hero4Children-Gymbags!

But don't worry, even if you weren't at the gala, they are still available exclusively from us. Heroines and heroes don't always wear capes - they can also be gymbags! For every Hero4Children gymbag sold, CHF 5 will be donated to children in need. Click here for the bag.
