From Berlin Tigers to Afro Punk

Photo shoot for the Love Tribe collection by Noé & Zoë.

Claudia from Hoi Berlin, a lifestyle and family blog with Swiss roots but Berlin at heart, starred in the current spring/summer collection of the Berlin brand Noé & Zoë with her two daughters Maus (7) and Mips (3).

Nici called me spontaneously and asked if we had time to help out in the afternoon at the Noé & Zoë photo shoot. A few children models had dropped out. Okay, I said, that's fine. Since I had planned to visit Nici at the shooting anyway to take pictures, I just picked up my two daughters a little earlier from school and the three of us went to the studio in the Rykestrasse, where the shooting would take place.

Nici Zinell is a designer and founder of Noé & Zoë. Founded in 2009, the children's brand has been the favourite of many fashion-orientated parents and stylists since the launch of the first collection in 2011. The patterns are unmistakable and the fabrics are of the finest organic quality.

Welcome to the glowing universe of Noé & Zoë

A few hours later we found ourselves in the middle of the colourful hustle and bustle of Noé & Zoë's office space, surrounded by racks of clothes with the Love Tribe collection, countless pairs of shoes of all sizes and of course other children, from babies up to the age of 12 who had already finished or waiting for their call.

We were greeted warmly and the girls were allowed to help themselves in the kitchen at the mini-catering and draw until it was their turn.

Then it was time and Maus and Mips were asked to come into the vestibule to try the first outfit. Nici came in briefly to give it a short nod of approval. Melanie, the make-up artist, sat one room away and created new hairstyles for the girls with ribbons to match the outfits. A little more powder on the cheeks and a few spots of lip balm. Ready for the camera.

The set was in the back room. The wallpapers corresponded to the colours of the outfit and were changed according to the pattern. Sometimes there was a chair, sometimes there was just cloth.

Colourful sprinkles flew through the air and a cheerful atmosphere prevailed on the set. Paul, the photographer spoke calmly and trustingly with the children and Nici arranged them.

Mips was a bit shy at the beginning, but grew confident really quickly. She liked being photographed with the other children. Nici's children Zavi and Zoë were also involved. In general it was a very familiar atmosphere and the children enjoyed the shooting. As always, Maus was rather reserved and serious. But that was totally okay. No child had to pretend in front of the camera. Also the mothers, who posed with their children for the mini-Me look, seemed quite natural.

The shooting lasted about two hours for us and I had the impression that Maus and Mips were fascinated by this world. Mips thought she could keep some shoes, but we could trick her with gummy bears.

On her way home, Maus admitted that she was a bit tired, but Mips could have gone on for a long time. She felt super comfortable.

Now the results are finally here. It was super nice being part of the Love Tribe collection and to immerse ourselves in the colourful world of Noé & Zoë.
