fair fashion: l'asticot from Geneva

The innovative Swiss eco-label l'asticot is dedicated to the sustainable and ecological production of children's clothing.

PRODUCED BY ADULTS IN EUROPE
The brand from French-speaking Switzerland produces clothing and accessories in a family business in Portugal that has been awarded the European Eco-label (No. PT/016/04). This confirms our commitment to responsibility for the entire life cycle of a product, from the extraction of raw materials through production, distribution and use to meaningful recycling.

Christie and Prune, the designers behind the label, know exactly who makes the products and visit the company regularly, maintain contact with the producers and employees and enjoy the important mutual exchange.

DOES NOT PRODUCE ENVIRONMENTALLY HARMFUL PRODUCTS
L'asticot works with organic and recycled raw materials. The sheep that produce organic wool, for example, are reared under optimal conditions and feed on organic products. This means no chemical hormones, no pesticides and no genetically modified organisms (GMOs). The wool is treated naturally and no viscose yarn is added. By purchasing organic cotton, l'asticot supports the development of a market that respects both farmers and the environment. The hemp supplier of l'asticot has the Fair Wear Foundation label (No. PT/016/04), which is dedicated to improving working conditions in the textile industry.

DURABLE QUALITY
Clothing that lasts longer is less harmful for the environment. The l'asticot product line contains a variety of tricks to prolong the life of the clothing. These range from the use of robust natural materials such as GOTS-certified organic cotton jersey and organic wool to fun unisex designs that facilitate the passing on of garments.

SKIN-FRIENDLY FOR YOUNG PEOPLE
L'asticot refuses to use chemicals in its dyes that could be harmful to health. The colours of the fabrics protect the most sensitive young skin from day one. Laboratory tests have even shown that garments that use potentially dangerous chemical-based dyes must be washed at least 11 times to achieve the same skin compatibility as a L'asticot garment at the time of purchase.
