Our buyer in an interview with Textilrevue

Interview in the current Textilrevue with Roberta - co-founder and buyer at Stadtlandkind.ch

What new impulses do you see for the spring/summer 2020 season?

Pitti Bimbo had many inspiring collections to offer this year. The range of natural materials such as organic cotton and linen in natural colours was particularly striking. With the sportier brands, it remains colourful, with floral prints. And stripes are back.

Which are the top sellers at Stadtlandkind?

Climate change and the ever more extreme hot and cold months are shifting the seasons, and the transition periods are getting shorter. The buying behaviour of customers has changed in that they are more impulsive in buying, depending on the current weather. Function also has a high priority: Swimwear with high UV protection in best quality, jackets that are breathable and weatherproof, underwear made of merino wool and silk for temperature regulation.

How do you approach sustainability?

Sustainability has been a central issue since our foundation. We are in close contact with our suppliers and discuss production, materials, packaging, transport routes and delivery times again and again. At Stadtlandkind we also offer many young Swiss designers and labels a platform for their ecofair and locally produced products.

How do you combine experience and emotion in e-commerce?

When we put the categories girls/boys in our shop, it was an experiment. We are convinced that there is no need for gender-specific categorization of clothing or toys, it restricts and inhibits.

How do NOS and Seasonless collections perform in the children's segment?

In Switzerland, a seasonless collection is rather difficult due to the seasons. However, we do have labels such as Gray Label or Minimalisma that create classic NOS items from organic qualities in timeless colours. And Mini Rodini produces the classic jacket "Pico" every year in a different colour.
