"The hellozurichPass is attractive even for people who have no interested in Zurich" ‑ raffle!

Those who have the hellozurichPass benefit from over 170 exclusive advantages and permanent discounts in the greater Zurich area, but also in numerous web shops. That's why it's by no means only Zurich residents who buy a hellozurichPass. The pass is published by hellozurich, the largest independent magazine for the greater Zurich area. We met CEO Christian Schiller for an interview.

A journalism magazine and a city pass with discounts, gifts and other benefits - does that even go with one another?

Christian Schiller: I think it does: with the hellozurichPass our readers can get to know Zurich and benefit from discounts and advantages. This offer perfectly complements our editorial stories about people and places in Zurich. And for partner businesses of the hellozurichPass we offer a credible environment.

 

Since its launch in January 2020, 500 passes have already been purchased. How do you explain this success?


We don't work with every company that wants to participate in the hellozurichPass - no matter how attractive the permanent discount or gift may be. So we make sure that the offers suit our readership. That's certainly what distinguishes the hellozurichPass from other deal, coupon or discount platforms. Furthermore, our city pass is comparatively inexpensive at eight francs a month.

 

500 passes is a proud figure. What is the long-term goal?


It is realistic that in the medium term around 2500 hellozurichPasses will be in constant circulation. We want to appeal not only to the Swiss population but also to tourists. Soon we will also be offering the hellozurichPass in English. In addition, the hellozurichPass is a grateful gift idea - also for companies that want to make their employees happy. It can't always be just bouquets and book vouchers.

 

 


In a short period of time, you have been able to win over 170 partner shops for the hellozurichPass - including numerous web shops from all over Switzerland and even from abroad. How did you go about it?


As already mentioned, we contacted companies that fit our readership - such as Stadtlandkind, for example, who also have an active offer. Other businesses have approached us. In most cases, by the way, no great persuasion was necessary. With around 3.1 million impressions per month, hellozurich is an important voice in the greater Zurich area. The partner businesses that can present themselves on our channels also benefit from this. What is certainly attractive is that we also take webshops into account. So the hellozurichPass is also interesting for people who take no interest in Zurich.

 

Which offers are particularly popular?


It is still too early to answer this question after one month. Generally speaking, discounts from 25 percent or gifts work very well, while offers with less attractive benefits are clicked and used less often. But there are exceptions. If the product is exciting enough, a discount of 10 percent can also work.
