"Es Schlaflied für de Igel" tells the story of a little hedgehog child who cannot fall asleep. As his whole family has already fallen into a deep hibernation and will not wake up again until spring, the hedgehog sets off into the forest in search of a lullaby and gets to know various forest inhabitants and their lullabies.

The six lullabies that appear in the story can be heard on the CD that comes with the book.
