100 years of Save the Children - Gala and gymbag limited edition!

At Stadtlandkind, everything revolves around children and families - and our social commitment is no exception. Together with the children's rights organization Save the Children we are therefore committed to improving the living conditions of the most disadvantaged children and their families in the long term. All children should grow up healthy, be able to learn and be protected from wars and armed conflicts - this is what Save the Children works for in over 120 countries worldwide and here in Switzerland.

2019 is a very special year for Save the Children, as the teacher Eglantyne Jebb founded the children's rights organization exactly 100 years ago. We were able to celebrate this special anniversary together at the Swiss Charity Concert Gala on August 24 and look back on 100 years of commitment to children.

A gala for and with children

It was an entertaining evening with many highlights: Stéphanie Berger, together with her 16-year-old co-host Nico Z., guided us through the event with her humorous and relaxed manner. The motto "Be a Hero for Children in Conflict" showed us in various program points that unfortunately more and more children today are exposed to wars and grow up in conflict areas and how we can give these children hope for a future together. A raffle with great prizes, including Stadtlandkind vouchers, collected donations for the work of Save the Children. Two influencers reported on a moving project visit to Kenya. Children were also involved in the gala itself - two children's reporters interviewed guests, Nico was in no way inferior to Stéphanie Berger as a children's presenter and a whole group of children supported the raffle to help disadvantaged children who are less well off.

Camerata Jovem with an enchanting performance

On the musical side, there was a concert by Camerata Jovem, a youth orchestra from Rio de Janeiro that provides young people from Brazil's favelas with musical training and thus gives them a future. The youth orchestra also won this year's Swiss Charity Award. Prof. Koh Gabriel Kameda, one of today's great violinists, performed with the orchestra. The orchestra played one of the pieces under the direction of conductor and Save the Children board member Victor Dijon de Monteton, who was also the artistic director of the event.

A Swiss Music Surprise Act

Musically, the evening culminated in a surprise performance by Veronica Fusaroan up-and-coming Swiss singer who was nominated for the Swiss Music Award in 2017. She performed two songs - one of them together with the youth orchestra. The guests, including us, were thrilled and celebrated the artists with standing ovations and an exuberant atmosphere.
