Erdbeben & Tropensturm in Haiti: Kinder brauchen unsere Hilfe

Earthquake & tropical storm in Haiti: children need our help

On August 14, a magnitude 7.2 earthquake devastated parts of Haiti. Over 2,000 people lost their lives and almost 10,000 were injured. In the aftermath of tropical storm Grace, relief efforts are proving difficult: many children have lost their parents and are in urgent need of food, water and safe shelter. Even before the earthquake, it is estimated that more than 1.1 million people in Haiti were threatened by a hunger crisis, including hundreds of thousands of children.

Our long-standing partner Save the Children is working on the ground in health clinics and with nutrition, education and child protection programs. The emergency aid teams are now on the ground, are currently assessing the situation and have begun initial relief efforts: They are supporting families in need and distributing basic supplies and emergency kits.

Current situation in Haiti- what we know so far!

  • According to the Haitian authorities, over 2,000 people have lost their lives, more than 5,700 have been injured and hundreds more are still missing!
  • The UN estimates that over 820,000 people in Haiti have been affected by the earthquake, including 250,000 children.
  • The number of damaged houses is currently estimated at 37,300 completely destroyed and 46,000 damaged houses.
  • The damaged and destroyed buildings include hospitals and schools.

Together we can help the children and families in need:

  • With 20 francs, for example, you can finance emergency accommodation for a family - with a tarpaulin, ropes and blankets.
  • With 50 francs, for example, we can provide 10 children with hygiene kits containing a towel, soap, toothbrush and toothpaste.
  • With 100 francs, for example, you can ensure that a family receives a food package containing wheat, rice, oil and beans, which they can live on for five weeks.

We will donate 10% of the daily turnover on Monday, August 30, 2021 to the most affected children. Every donation counts and the donations will be used where help is most urgently needed.
