Autumn, autumn, autumn is here. That's what I sing with my little girl. Yesterday we were still splashing around in the pool, today we're getting the thick jackets out of the cellar. We didn't look once and suddenly summer has gone. Once again without warning - just like the year before. It's dark in the morning and cool during the day. The happiness hormones are sparse. Apparently, some of my fellow human beings are too. If I got five francs for every grumpy comment about my child being too alive(!) or the buggy being too big in the streetcar - I would have said "hasta luego" to the Zurich fog long ago and would be lying on the beach in Rio. But unfortunately I don't get it and so I have to continue to deal with contemporaries spewing poison and bile. Which of course I don't do - being a good role model and all - even if I wouldn't feel like it. I'm only human. But what I do do is speak my mind loud and clear. Every complainer gets their comeback, I don't let anything get to me. Because I want to set an example for my daughter that she doesn't have to put up with anything either and that otherwise I would get an ulcer. Nothing is harder on the stomach than unspoken words. It takes you hours to think of the right response to a surprisingly crude remark? Then have a handful of suitable answers ready in a quiet moment. You'll be able to remember them if the worst comes to the worst. Because let's not kid ourselves, it will happen. Or is it just me that more and more people feel disturbed by the lives of others? That they want to hear as little as possible about their fellow human beings? Not with us, stand up to the eternal grumblers. Depending on your temperament, you can even give them the middle finger. You can also take civil courage for yourself. So dress warmly, you grumblers - and we'll take this advice literally as soon as the temperature drops outside.
I would steal the fake fur jacket from Iglo + Indi from my daughter's closet!
