Every year on March 21 is World Down Syndrome Day. Because people with Down syndrome have the 21st chromosome three times. At Stadtlandkind, we are committed to inclusion and diversity in all areas of life. Of course, we also support the campaign #lassmalwirsein for World Down Syndrome Day and let the parents of Elea, Levi and Logan take the floor.
Elea (10), loving sister, bright 4th grader, good friend, dancer, cook and model
"Are you pulling the same rope with me?" This is the slogan for this year's World Down Syndrome Day. True inclusion can only succeed if we all pull together, break down prejudices and see the opportunities and quality of life of people with trisomy 21. In Switzerland, 90% of children with trisomy 21 are aborted - often without comprehensive information about the possibilities and quality of life of children, adolescents and adults. Everyone should have a place in our society, regardless of their abilities or special characteristics. As parents, we want a self-determined future for our daughter Elea, and that requires inclusion!

Levi (13), 7th grader, beloved brother of four siblings, imaginative, little actor, skier and Paw Patrol lover
"There are few things Levi looks forward to more than Tuesday. Because Tuesday is the day he gets to go to class at the Storchen children's musical theater. May - I choose this word deliberately, because it is not a given that he will be welcomed there with open arms. That his special needs are not seen as an obstacle, but as part of his uniqueness. Bettina and Kurt, the directors of the Storchen children's musical theater, have a noticeably big heart for children with disabilities. They create a space in which Levi is not only allowed to participate, but is also valued - as part of the community. He is seen, heard and supported without needing special treatment - simply because everyone is accepted for who they are. We are infinitely grateful to have found a place like this. A place where inclusion is not just a word, but a way of life. Where the focus is not on deficits, but on joy, talent and the opportunity to develop. Where children like Levi are not just tolerated, but welcomed. This appreciation and openness mean a lot to us as a family."

Logan (6) Kindergartener, whirlwind, explorer, music lover and dancer, loving and very clever
"Our Logan is a source of joie de vivre and full of energy. Logan always dances to his own rhythm. It is a wonderful journey to watch him discover his independence and develop into his own personality. We recognize each and every one of us in him. He loves going to kindergarten and loves it when his older brothers come to visit. He is simply a great addition to our family."
