In 1985, industrial designer and biker Jim Gentes had a great idea - a completely new bike helmet. Together with a few friends, he put this idea into practice in a garage. The result was a company that enabled bikers to push the boundaries of conventional thinking. Jim Gentes borrowed the name Giro from the Giro d'Italia. The Italian word "giro" means "round trip" or "revolution" and symbolizes one of our core beliefs: Everything moves in circles. Whatever we do at Giro is designed to improve the bike riding experience. We design every connection point so that nothing comes between the biker and their experience.
