Shiny companions

Children’s jewellery and first watches are more than just pretty decorations – they accompany young adventurers as they grow. A delicate bracelet or a small necklace can tell stories and spark the imagination, while owning a watch playfully teaches the concept of time. Such accessories give confidence and make children feel grown up.

Materials and safety

As with baby jewellery, earrings, necklaces and bracelets for children should be made from hypoallergenic materials: sterling silver, 14‑carat gold, platinum or surgical stainless steel are well tolerated and durable. In watches, the strap is crucial: light, flexible materials like silicone or fabric are comfortable and adapt to the wrist, whereas heavy steel bands are unsuitable for small children. Choose a secure clasp that can be opened easily if necessary, and opt for plastic (acrylic) crystals because they’re more flexible and less likely to shatter than mineral glass.

Watches for small wrists

The size of the watch case should suit the child’s age: for toddlers, diameters of 23–28 mm are ideal; for older children, 30–35 mm. Water resistance of at least 10 ATM (100 metres) is advisable for everyday activities like swimming or bathing. Analogue dials help children learn to tell the time, while digital displays are practical for sports and games. Some models combine both and offer additional features like stopwatches or illumination.

Style and combination

Jewellery and watches can be wonderfully combined with other accessories: a pretty watch goes well with colourful hair accessories and protects the eyes when paired with cool sunglasses. Small treasures like rings or studs find a home in a purse or pouch. Music boxes are beloved companions on trips and can even help children fall asleep.

Care and durability

To ensure jewellery and watches bring long‑lasting joy, they should be cleaned regularly. Use a soft cloth to polish surfaces and avoid contact with chemicals or perfume. Watches occasionally need a battery change; have this done by a specialist. Store pieces individually so they don’t scratch and remove the watch before swimming in the sea or doing sports to protect the material.

Gift ideas and memories

Whether for a birthday, the first day of school or Christmas – jewellery and watches are wonderful gifts that mark special moments. A bracelet engraved with a name or a lovingly packaged watch set becomes a trusty companion. Later these pieces can serve as reminders of childhood and perhaps even be passed on to the next generation. That’s how little treasures for life are created.
