Umbra was founded in 1980 by childhood friends Les Mandelbaum and Paul Rowan in Toronto. At that time, modern design was not yet found in everyday objects such as kitchen and bathroom utensils, wastepaper baskets, wall clocks or photo frames, but with fresh ideas and a creative design team, Umbra brought its innovative creations to a large number of households around the world.
