Derborence is the story of a mountain. It is also the story of grieving villagers who believe they are seeing ghosts: Of a man who is fooling around and losing his mind, and of a woman who refuses to give up hope.

A tragic story, lovable characters and rugged mountain landscapes: Charles Ferdinand Ramuz's famous book lends itself wonderfully to illustration. It was chosen to launch the new Helvetiq collection: A triptych of graphic novels from the work of the great French-language writer.

By adapting and illustrating Derborence, Fabian Menor has sought to highlight the connections between the characters. He chose brush and ink to visually convey the special atmosphere of the high mountains.
