Capture the magic of spring
Spring shines through the sprouting buds and the sun warms the awakening nature. What could be better than making our children aware of this annual wonder? To sensitize them to the magic of the animal and plant world? That was our own motivation to develop something that would be impressive and amazing for the children. It was the birth of our first natural product: the caterpillar box.
The metamorphosis adventure
The fact that the development of a natural product does not happen overnight was one of our learning lessons during the development year. We immersed ourselves in the world of butterflies, checked legal regulations and discussed everything from the choice of materials to the care of the insects with the butterfly father of Switzerland - Papa Papillon. And in one of our prototypes, we observed the transformation of the caterpillar into a butterfly for the first time - an unforgettable experience. Now we were ready to put the first series of caterpillar boxes into production.
Made by people with disabilities
We quickly found the perfect partner in the BSZ Foundation. The innovative company was immediately on board and has been producing each of our caterpillar boxes in its workshop in Schwyz since day one. And that's not all. A year later, the second product followed - which also passed through the capable hands of people with disabilities. With the ladybug house allows the metamorphosis of the larva into a ladybug to be observed. Another Swiss company, Biogärtnerei Andermatt, came on board. The ladybug eggs that we supply with the ladybug house come from this company.
The fascination in children's eyes
We would be lying if we said that only children are fascinated by observing metamorphosis. Parents, grandmothers, aunts, uncles and godmothers ... the fascination shines in everyone's eyes. Among the butterflies, we were particularly taken with the now rare swallowtail. Together with many other enthusiastic butterfly friends, we have also created a platform on our website in recent years where we give away small swallowtail caterpillars so that the adventure of metamorphosis can be made accessible to everyone. Teachers in particular are very happy to make use of this offer and also use the numerous NMG teaching aids that we have developed in the meantime. We receive numerous photos from everywhere showing the fascinated eyes of children. Yes, it was our motivation to sensitize children to the magic of nature. And we are immensely pleased that we have succeeded.
