As part of our Green Commerce strategy, we have also set ourselves some ambitious goals for 2020. With various measures and innovations, we will continuously reduce our C02 emissions over the next 3 years and offset them with offsetting in climate protection projects our contribution.
Kickbag: Sustainable online shopping without packaging waste
Since June 2020, we have been delivering orders climate neutral in the Kickbag®. The Kickbag® replaces the shipping carton and is a reusable, flexible bag made from partially recycled PET with a Velcro fastener.
The robust, weatherproof and durable Kickbag® can be used instead of disposable packaging for shipping almost all products. The bag and shipping are climate-neutral (the Kickbag's emissions are balanced and offset 100% with climate protection projects), and recycled raw materials are used for the most part in production. The Kickbag® enables us to significantly reduce CO2 emissions compared to conventional packaging materials.
Small contribution - big impact: your climate franc for environmental protection!
With the Kickbag, customers no longer have to go through the laborious (and sometimes costly) process of disposing of new cardboard packaging. Many customers now want to offset the CO2 footprint of their order. That's why we have included the option in the checkout to make a personal contribution to this by clicking Yes to the climate franc. climate measures for these climate measures.
Green Commerce Strategy Stadtlandkind
Now that we have been transporting all parcels to and from customers with Swiss Post in a climate-neutral manner since January 1, 2020 and have also achieved climate neutrality for the entire company and the website, we are now starting this pioneering project, which is unique in Switzerland, where we have a direct influence on emissions and CO2 emissions.
The next step will be to review and reduce the use of additional materials such as polybags, stuffing material, parcel inserts and tissue paper and, where possible, to do without them completely in future.
Kickbag GmbH
Kickbag GmbH was founded in July 2020. The main shareholders are Tobias Zingg, co-founder of Stadtlandkind, and Mariella Huber, co-founder of the online fabric retailer Stoff&so. Based on their experience in e-commerce, they had long been looking for alternative, environmentally friendly packaging in e-commerce. Because even if cardboard, plastic and polystyrene are recycled properly, the CO2 emissions still have an impact. Many customers are also annoyed by having to dispose of cardboard packaging - as this is being charged for in more and more municipalities.
"We estimate that the kickbag® can be reused up to 30 times. It creates a win-win-win situation: customers no longer have to dispose of packaging, the retailer appeals to environmentally conscious customer groups and the climate is protected."
