I recently experienced the most expensive concert of my life in Hamburg. Under construction
of superlatives, the Elbphilharmonie. Much has been said about it, now only
raved about. We heard Anohni, who some may still remember as a singer.
of Antony and the Johnsons. If not - definitely get to know her!
In my opinion, this prodigy is one of the greatest talents of our time.
of our time. So the tickets were ordered quickly and well in advance.

It was a little slower to realize that we would be paying for three flights, the
child had turned two in the meantime, we needed a babysitter, i.e.
another train ticket and hotel costs for the whole gang.
With a fish sandwich or two and an Astra or two
this concert cost me something in the four-digit range.

And I have to say: I don't regret a cent. Never has an event given me such goosebumps.
rarely has one lasted so long. And taught me an important lesson.
Before the start, the artistic director took the stage. The audience shuffled their feet.
And was informed that photography and filming were not permitted.
The artist expressly forbade this and would leave the concert if necessary.
if necessary. Well, to be honest, I was disappointed at first. I was wondering
about the hashtags under the Instagram post.

But when Anohni entered the stage in some kind of glittering armor, it really hit me.
hit me like a ton of bricks: they still exist, these moments that you can really
you really only have for yourself. That cannot be repeated, that are truly exclusive.
And that we have to preserve them. So I can only advise you:

Visit this great concert hall, moments like this are
are priceless. So if you happen to find yourself in the north in the near future,
here are my tips for a trip to Hamburg:

1. Hafencity and Überseequartier:
Things are happening. Hamburg's city center is growing right up to the Elbe. The spacious playground
Grasbrookpark invites you to let off steam. Stroll along the waterfront in the direction of
Elbphilharmonie concert hall and visit the city's new landmark, designed by the
Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron. Spend the night at the
nearby 25 hours, you can explore the city on the hotel's own bicycles.

2nd beach pearl:
No longer an insider tip, but still good. While the little ones dig in the sand,
you can enjoy an astra and look out over the water.

3. the fish stall on bridge 10 ...
... directly on the Landungsbrücken has the best fish sandwiches in town.

4. on a harbor tour ...
... take ferry 62 to Finkenwerder, past the fish market,
Dockland, Övelgönne (Strandperle!), here you can see everything that makes up the harbor:
from the large container ships, the Elbe beach and the villas of Blanken ese.
From Finkenwerder you then return to the jetties.

5th Schanze & Karolinenviertel:
Always good for a coffee and shopping.

6. in the minimalist Little Department Store ...
... you can find great cashmere scarves from Filippa & Florentine, the label
label of the store owner.

And since the weather in Hamburg is much better than its reputation, here are my
my favorites for sunshine and slippery weather:
