A perfect family get-away in the heart of Switzerland

If you love the Swiss mountains as much as we do, you should definitely take a trip to Lake Lucerne. More precisely: to Melchsee-Frutt. We were lucky enough to spend a perfect family weekend in the snow high above Lucerne after the snow-free holidays in the lowlands.

And the journey there was so uncomplicated that it simply has to be mentioned: We parked our car conveniently in the Stöckalp parking garage and loaded our (ski) luggage at the gondola lift - from then on, our weekend domicile, the frutt Family Lodge, took care of transporting all our luggage to our rooms and the (heated) ski room respectively. Wow, what a feel-good service!

The gondola ride to the mountain station was a 15-minute experience with panoramic views, which was sweetened with little treats from the extremely courteous staff of the Melchsee-Frutt cable car. We were in love before we had even arrived.

The short walk to the frutt Family Lodge led us through the cozy Melchsee-Frutt with a view of the frozen Melchsee, over which the free drag lift leads to the ski area. Once we had moved into our spacious family rooms, we naturally had to explore the family-friendly spa area without delay. So we put on our swimming trunks and headed down to the feel-good zone. To be honest, we were a little skeptical at first, but it turned out to be a wonderfully relaxing area with three different saunas, a relaxation room (yep, it's really quiet there) and three child-friendly pools. Not forgetting the small outdoor terrace where you could cool off in the fresh snow. With a tea and snack station, not only the youngest guests felt completely at ease here. Don't overindulge in the dried fruit, just a little tip, it would be a shame to go hungry...

No, I admit, a family hotel wasn't really our thing before and we would never have dreamed that we would feel thoroughly at home in a restaurant in a family hotel. The screaming children. Not at all at dinner. It wasn't either. The food as well as the service before, during and after the meal was so attentive, the kids always had their hands full, were busy ordering, eating and playing, a well-planned and well thought-out family concept. The absolute highlight for our children was of course the playroom with a table football table, bowling alley, dartboard and PS4 console (for the little ones there is a supervised playroom with Bäbihuus, craft and Lego table). Meanwhile, we adults were captivated by the varied menu. Have we already mentioned the attentive service? Ah yes.

The Melchsee-Frutt ski area welcomes you with snow fun between 1,080 and 2,255 meters above sea level on 14 modern transport facilities - these provide access to 36 km of slopes of all levels of difficulty. In the snow-sure vacation region, versatility is the order of the day: the youngest winter sports enthusiasts can experience unforgettable hours in Fruttli-Land with its magic carpet, ski carousel etc., which can be used free of charge. While the grown-ups glide over gentle hills, conquer challenging steep slopes or carve their lines in fresh powder snow. Freestylers, on the other hand, are drawn to fruttpark.ch, where they will find the perfect terrain with rails, kickers and boxes. For speed freaks, the ski cross slope offers a fast-paced mix of jumps, waves, curves and gliding sections. And those who prefer tobogganing to skiing will also get their money's worth here: the eight-kilometre-long toboggan run with a difference in altitude of almost 1,000 meters is the longest toboggan run in Central Switzerland. The ride from Melchsee-Frutt to Stöckalp is an experience for young and old alike.

We have definitely discovered a little piece of paradise and are certain - frutt Familylodge, we'll be back!
