Kaleio No. 14: What exactly are hearts and likes?

Maybe it’s perfectly clear to you: These are just the little icons I use online to show that I like something. I can use them to leave positive comments on posts, videos, or photos. Click—a heart. Click—I like it. But what if someone doesn’t know the language of the internet? That person might say: Hearts pump blood through the body and beat faster when we’re in love. And a “Lajk”—is that maybe a rare animal species, something like a lynx? And: doesn’t the word simply come from the English verb “to like,” which means “to like”? Exactly, and that’s what it’s all about: liking. Liking, loving, and being liked. It’s about expressing affection. This issue of KALEIO invites you to do just that in the real world!
