Because every dyeing step that’s eliminated means less water consumption and fewer chemical treatments. Lavie, the Swiss label for sustainable, high-quality textiles, relies on materials that speak for themselves.

What is Bananatex®?

Bananatex® is derived from the abacá plant, a wild banana species native to the Philippines. It grows in a natural permaculture system—alongside cacao and teak trees—without artificial irrigation or pesticides. The plant thus actively contributes to biodiversity and the reforestation of former farmland.

The natural pore structure of the abacá fiber makes the fabric breathable and moisture-regulating—ideal for shorts that last all day.

Lightweight to wear, built to last.

Combined with soft organic long-staple cotton (GOTS-certified), the result is a comfortable, balanced fit. Abacá is one of the most tensile-strong natural fibers—the shorts retain their shape and color even after many washes.
